Sweet Virginia 藹伶

Virginia is 18 months old and she can comprehend a lot more then we think by now. She also says some simple words but most of them are in Chinese since we try to make Mandarin as the language spoken at home. A while ago, she learned how to say "no" and that's probably all she said for a small period of time. Below is a little conversation between her mom and her:

"Please get down off the table"said Amber.
"NO", Virginia replied.
"Do you love me" Amber asked. ( That was stupid of Amber to ask that.)
"NO", Virginia replied.
"Would you like some crackers?" Amber asked.
"NO", Virginia replied but came up to Amber and grabbed the crackers. :$

Now, she knows to express her preferences by saying "Okay~" and "No!". The funny thing is when she says "okay" she would say it really long with an "a" sound in the end but when she says "no", it is always short and sharp. We are just so happy for her even though that she can express herself more and more with words and she seems to be very happy about that as well.

藹伶十八個月大了, 現在已能夠聽懂很多事了! 她也開始說些簡單的詞, 大部份都是中文, 因為我們儘量在家都說中文, 我們的目標是使中文成為家裡的官方語言! 前些時候, 藹伶學會說"no"(不的意思), 有一陣子她成天就一直說不, 以下是一小段我和她的對話:

媽媽: 「藹伶, 下來離開桌子」
藹伶:「NO」
媽媽:「妳愛媽咪嗎?」(我真愚蠢這時問她這種問題)
藹伶:「NO」
媽媽:「妳要吃小餅乾嗎?」
藹伶:「NO」藹伶邊說不要卻邊大步走來一把抓過小餅乾吃 :$

現在她知道用"okay"和"no"來表達要或不要、同意不同意的意見, 有趣的是她的"okay總是拉得很長, 而"no"則是非常簡短有力。我們很欣慰她能用言語表達自己的意思而她似乎也因此很開心!
